In 1980 the members of the Sao Jorge Community situated in squatterlands in the outskirts of Salvador got togehter with some members of a small Catholic Fraternity and created a small Communal Centre (place of meetings & celebrations) and a small school in a wooden barrack often flooded by rains. Later on they started to build and try answering the needs of the neighbourhood. Bit by bit, from one fight to the other, they obtained a day nursery, now called Communitary Centre of Infantile Education that hosts 180 poor children of the surroundings.

In 1999, the Association received donations that made possible the creation of a Helth Booth thus developing an action of prevention, sanitary formation, social, family planning and the beginning of maçons professional capacitation for 20 adolescents building a locus for the community.

With the results obtained in the first capacitation, the community gave continuity, expanding into an Electricity course in August 2000 and a car mechanics in July 2001.

Since 2002, the Association hosts the PETI Project (Infantile Work Erradication Program), full day in school reinforcement for over 100 youngsters aged 7 to 14.

Alagados is one of the poorest and most needy urban areas in Brazil. But also a warehouse of talents and human potential, it is these same socio-economic difficulties which paradoxically act as catalysers.

Bringing these human resources to the surface is the proposed mission of a group of French spiritualists residing in Bahia.There are 120 adolescents divided into different workshops as home electricity and car mechanics.

The car mechanics school run by ACF was in 2004 partly supported by IAAF. The school received also an Eletronic Injection Station. Nowadays, as low cost cars come fitted w/ eletronically injected engines, the after-sales market is huge.
