Acopamec maintains, in the poor neighbourhoods of Salvador, a capacitation center that offers 12 professional courses (handicarft, aesthetics, hairdressing, IT, car mechanics, building electricity, sewing and seamstress, dental clinic´s help, breadmaking, art & mosaics). There are 412 teenagers, aged between 15 & 21, enrolled.

IT revolution impacts all 12 areas above mentioned. Hardly a medical doctor´s office will do away without a pc. Hairdressing saloons run what-ifs for their customers. Low cost cars come with eletronic fuel injection. In all 12 areas IT became everyday tools, a real joker card. In Bill Gate´s path a new form of illiteracy formed: digital.

IAAF will pay for the IT Course, which in Acopamec will focus pc maintenance. That should significantly increase chances for the students to make a living afterwards. In the 420-hour program, along the first semester in 2005, 34 teenagers will enroll.
