The Ford manufacturing complex, www.icec.com.br/ford, with its 16 million sq ft of built area and 36 independent sistemists (independent suppliers manufacturing at the same site), is giving a new push to industrialization in Salvador.

In its third year of operations, 250.000 vehicles will come out the assembly line.

Several sistemists are structuring themselves, fine-tuning their orders with the local manufacturers of spare parts.

The manufacture of dies (blanking) and above all plastic molds is opened for the small & medium size local companies. These cos are looking to hire qualified personnel to replace the ones that came from the South of Brazil. For example: a plastic mold manufacturer at the Ford site has 35 employees as toolmakers, being only one of them from Bahia.

The Senai Cimatec school is preparing new programs having industrial mechanics as basic skills with an eye into setting up their first tool making course in Bahia.
